VINEYARDS

New Zealand’s grape growing regions span 1000 miles with a wide range in climate and soil types. Rebecca selects fruit from Marlborough and Gisborne to ensure optimum fruit quality in her wines. The Odyssey Marlborough Vineyard is certified organic and is one of the regions more elevated vineyards, in the highly acclaimed Southern Valleys sub region with perfect orientation to the sun.

Gisborne is the most easterly of New Zealand’s grape growing regions and first to see the light, it is an ideal region for Chardonnay. Non irrigated and from some of the regions oldest Mendoza vines this vineyard is special and produces some of the regions smartest wines.

WINEMAKER

These high quality single vineyard wines are made by winemaker/owner Rebecca Salmond. The Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from the organically certified Odyssey Marlborough Vineyard. The Reserve Iliad Chardonnay comes from Gisborne’s Golden Triangle.

The wines reflect the terroir from which they are grown.

ACCOLADES

"From one vintage to the next, Rebecca Salmond makes one of Gisborne's classiest wines.. Very elegant, youthful and harmonious, it has concentrated stone fruit, grapefruit and slight spice flavours, finely integrated oak and a long, poised finish."

M. Cooper

"Recognised early as a talented young winemaker, Rebecca struck out with her first Odyssey wines in 1994. The wines are limited production, premium, single vineyard expressions.."

Raymond Chan

"Charm, a little elegance, balance, great length and complexity can add up to high quality in a wine. These are also attributes I look for in a wine when tasting and making decisions about restaurant listings. If I can tick the boxes for three or more of these attributes then the wine is well on its way to placement. I consistently tick 4 or more boxes when it comes to the wine of Salmond. Rebecca's attention to detail and understanding of her craft is obvious in all of the wine she makes."
